Education Programme Manager, World Animal Protection

After obtaining a bachelor degree in Biology Sciences from Tianjin Normal University in China, JJ Sun continued to pursue an MSc course on Meat Science and Technology at Bristol University, UK where she systematically studied Animal Welfare and Animal Production. To better contribute to animal protection, she is now studying a bachelor degree in Veterinary Medicine at China Agriculture University.

In 2007, JJ joined Anhua Animal Products Safety Research Institute (APSRI) and worked as an A-level humane slaughter trainer, mainly responsible for delivering humane slaughter training in universities and meat industries across the nation, and has accumulated rich experience and skills in this field. The number of trainees that have been directly trained by her is up to 1,000.

In 2013, she joined World Animal Protection and took charge of the education programme. By cooperating with China Veterinary Association, she introduced the “Model Vet School” project to Chinese vet schools. She was also responsible for organizing and publishing the first guide book ‘Introduction to Animal Welfare’ for animal science and medicine schools in China. JJ is dedicated to promoting animal protection and welfare concepts amongst tertiary universities, middle and primary schools; which can help eliminate cruelty on animals and boost the sustainable development of human society.
