Professor Xianhong Gu

Professor Gu graduated from China Agricultural University, after having successively received a bachelor's degree in animal nutrition and feed processing, a master’s degree in animal production and management, and a doctor's degree in animal nutrition and feeding. Now, she is a researcher, doctoral supervisor and founder of the animal welfare and health care research field at the Institute of Animal Science (IAS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).
Additionally Professor Gu is a specialist of healthy feeding and dairy cow welfare for Beijing Innovation Team of Dairy Industry Technology System, a senior inspector of Animal Husbandry for Good Agricultural Practices Certification, a member of The National Standardization Technical Committee for Animal Health, vice director of the International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare (ICCAW) in the China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation (CAPIAC), and both vice director of the Animal Welfare and Health Feeding Branch and standing director of the Animal Ecology Branch in the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine(CAASVM). For almost thirty years she has been engaged in studies of livestock and poultry house environmental control, stress management, and animal welfare and health feeding. She has published over 200 papers and 10 books on these topics.
