Interview with Helen Lambert

Helen Lambert, Animal Welfare Consultant, talks about her recent scientific research exploring measures of positive emotions in dairy cows...“it is key to identify measures of positive emotional state, so that they can be brought into practice”.

The study was conducted on behalf of Helen’s work at World Animal Protection. The research investigated the use of ear postures, nasal temperature and percentage of visible eye white, as indicators of positive emotional state in cows. The importance of understanding and promoting positive emotional states in animals is highlighted.
